We have been making regular dr visits to Primary's trying to figure out how to help Paisley with her vocal cords & swallowing. We saw a new dr who right away said she was a good candidate for a surgery where they get a nerve by her ear & attach it to the nerve that got severed during her heart surgery, the same nerve that is attached to her vocal that is paralyzed. And hopefully the good nerve will go up the bad nerve and make the vocal cord move again. As the dr put it "its like rewiring a car battery". But they haven't done this surgery on kids any younger than 2, so in September Paisley went in and they gave her a shot of collagen into the vocal cord to help until she could have the surgery in March of this year. We saw the results of the shot right away, her voice was louder & she wasn't choking or throwing up as much.

We won't know if the surgery worked for about a year, the good nerve needs time to grow up the bad nerve. She is so amazing with everything she has been through. Not that I like the reason she was wearing these hospital gowns, but how cute is she in them!

Oh some crazy things that happened the day of her surgery, there was another couple their with a little boy getting tubes in his ears & they kept looking over at us. So I asked about their son & they told us he was a twin, they were born early & his sister only lived a couple of days & her name was Paisley. (for those who don't know the parents have a name tag on their shirts of the child having something done). And that's why they kept looking at us. We were in the waiting room for about 3 hrs or so & their was another family there that had a little girl getting reconstructive surgery, they said she would be having surgery for most of the day. I am always very humbled every time we go to Primary's.

We went fishing last week up at Yankee Meadow. It was very pretty up there. We didn't catch any cause the wind was blowing real bad. But we sure had a good time, & as you can see Paisley only came for the food!

I can't beleive its almost July already. Summer time just goes by way to fast. Our first fun trip this summer was to Disneyland, I'm not sure who was more excited Luke or Blake. I think maybe Luke! We are so glad that our freinds Dayna, Jeremy & Damian were able to come with us. & of course we had to make it to a Dodgers game. We had a great week, but we sure did miss Paisley. She got to stay & play with Grannie Carrie again.

Although we would love to have like 10 more, its hard to know what to do. There's a chance of having another baby early, & though we love Pais to death, it would be unbearable to go through that again. I guess time will tell!

This is the 4th time I have chopped my hair off for Locks of Love. I think she said it was 9 inches or more. I forgot the before picture, but here are the results. It feels so nice, hopefully it will be a sign of warmer weather! A girl can dream.

We had a super hero birthday party on Saturday, we had quite the group of friends. We were having so much fun that these are the only pictures we got. Our good friend Mandy made this cake for Blake. It was so yummy,He loved it.

We did a little treasure hunt in the backyard & the kids got to decorate some bags.

Blake is such a great little man & the best big brother. He was born @ 8:26pm, weighing 8lbs 7oz & 20 inches long. Before he was born we had decided to have his middle name be Mckay after Grandpa Mckay Erickson. Well my due date was April17th & it came & went & no baby, I was induced @ 11am on the 19th, which (by no coincidence) happens to be Grandpa Mckay birthday. We are so glad that Blake shares his birthday with such a great man!!

Here is a look at what the bells palsy effects. When she sleeps the other eye does close, thankfully. She has been through so much, yet still gives us some smiles.
No, she didn't break her arm. When she got RSV, she was also throwin up, so she had to go in daily to get fluids through an IV. They left the IV port in for a week & they did this so she would not pull it out.

I love this picture, she just has the cutes expression! & you can see just how small she really is. Which is only 13 1/2 lbs @ 15months old.

These two are only 2 weeks apart. They are good friends, her & her family moved in the neighborhood same time we did. We have alot of fun when we get together.

We are so sick of being sick. We have been sick since the 2nd week in February! Really not exaggerating. First Pais got RSV, she actually did okay with it. It lasted almost 2 weeks. Then we got a cold. After that came the stomach bug. Then another cold. Last but not least Pais has bells palsy, she woke up last Friday with green puss draining out her ear & we took her to the DR's & we noticed the right side of her face wasn't moving. We went to the hospital to get a CT scan to check her brain activity & see if the infection was in the bone or muscle. Both were good, so the palsy should go away. How long we don't know. So that has been our crappy 2 months!

This time last year we had to leave our little girl at the hospital. I REMEMBER feeling my heart break into a million pieces as we drove away from the hospital. I REMEMBER crying & wanting to turn right around & go back, at the same time wanting to go & be with Blake. Even though I was only 20 minutes away it felt like I was going to another country. I had to trust strangers to take care of my little one. Don't get me wrong I would not have wanted her to be in any other hospital, it's just she's mine & should be with me! I am so grateful for a wonderful aunt who let us take over her home for the next 3 months. I REMEMBER going to wal-mart & getting a few things we needed. Sitting there waiting by the registers I REMEMBER it was like in the movies when the character looks out & everything is a blur. I felt different. In the hospital everyone knew what had happened & here no one knew. Its funny I REMEMBER when I had Blake my mom bought me new pj's & when we were at wal-mart she bought me comfy clothes to wear while I healed. It wasn't a big thing, but it meant ALOT. THANKS MOM

Paisley was born on December 30th 2008 @ 11:57 am via c-section. She weighed 1lb 10 oz & was 13 inches long. Around 3 am this day last year I woke up & knew that she would be delivered this day. I had been trying my hardest to lie to the doctors about my condition getting worse (I know, stupid right!), but every day made such a huge difference. Finally they did some blood work & found me out. I REMEMBER them taking me into the room & no one could come with me. I REMEMBER a nurse holding my hand. Then Luke was able to come in. Within a few minutes she was here, they said she cried right away. I wasn't able to see her for a few h0urs. While everyone got to go she her, I was hooked up to the milking machine! (I am a jersey by the way, I produce pure cream).

I will admit I was TERRIFIED the first time I saw her, she was so tiny, I couldn't see her face she had wires & tubes everywhere. I kept thinking I'm gonna wake up, I'm gonna wake up & still be pregnant for the next 3 months. Don't get me wrong I loved her so much my heart was breaking.

Some funnies: they moved me from labor & delivery the day before I had her & the nurse taking me to the other side of the hospital says "Congratulations on your baby". WHAT THE _ _ _ _! I look at Luke like "did I miss something". The nurse says "you just had a c-section right?" Needless to say she was not getting a thank you card. Another thing we can laugh about now, I had gained about 20+lbs with the mag. they had me on to prevent seizures, & Grandma Delsa tells me when she saw me all she could think is, man your boobs are huge!!Thanks Grandma

Paisley is around 14lbs, she is the BIGGEST daddy's girl. She has been crawling for about a month now. Says "dada" any time I try to get her to say "mama"! Still as bawled as the day she was born & has no teeth. She thinks she is a big girl & wants nothing to do with baby food, only wants what we are eating. She is into everything!! & I love it!! She loves her brother & wants to do whatever he is doing.

We asked Blake what kinda treat we should make for Santa, he says,"red fish".So we thought maybe salmon, fish crackers. Then we found what he wanted Swedish candy fish. He really knows his Santa!!!

This time last year

This time last year Blake & I were up in Emery County spending time at grandma Reba's house. This day I heard the story of our angels from Becky. I felt fine the whole time. Everyone was commenting on my swollen ankles (mind you I had only gained like 4lbs & was around 25 weeks). So I began checking my blood pressure. Then the day after Christmas the whole family was going to go to the movies, my blood pressure had gotten up to 190/135. Average BP is like 120/80. I am stubborn I will admit. I didn't want to go into Price hospital (not my favorite hospital) I wanted to wait the 2 days til we were back home & I could go into see my doctor. But because of the story of our angels I went. It was no coincidence we saw the same doctor our angels saw, & because of this they knew right away what to do with us. Let me back up a bit, before we left for the hospital we didn't say bye to Blake (I will forever have guilt over this) we thought we would just see him in half an hour or so. It was no coincidence that we were with family when this all happened, so that they could take care of Blake.

I REMEMBER after the doctor said, "preclampsia" I looked at Luke & I felt as if the world had stopped turning. I heard the word life flight & University of Utah & deliver. I wondered if our fate would be the same as our angels. I was so grateful for the knowledge of eternal families, that if that was the case our little girl would still be ours. I am grateful for so many loving family members. I remember getting a blessing from my sisters father & brother in law. How grateful I am for the priesthood. I remember the look on every ones faces mirroring my own. I was so scared.

Bart, sweet air-med nurse Bart. He asked what we were having, when I said a girl, he said she will be fine, she's gonna make it. & I believed him. He swept my hair back with his hand. I will never forget his kindness.

The plane ride to U of U med center was very peaceful. I had been shaking, but once in the air I calmed down.I was so glad they had to bring the fixed winged airplane cause that meant Luke could ride with me. Oh how I love this man. I usually am the strong one, but he gave me strength. I felt very close to heaven in the air. I looked out the window at the stars peeking through the clouds & prayed to my Lord that he would save my sweet baby girl.

When I arrived at U of U, coming off the elevator I saw my mom, her husband, & my sister. It was the best feeling to see them there. I hope they know how much I love & appreciate them.

Lately I have been very emotional about Paisley turning 1! I think as a mom the 1st birthday is an emotional one any ways. But with all that has happened this last year, I find myself finally processing all that went on. I think I just went through the motions, and did what I had to do. And now a year later I am reliving last years events. Its like I'm going through it all over again,
the feelings I have are so strong. Don't get me wrong I feel so blessed to be one of the lucky mothers who was able to bring their baby home, when others could not. I want to journal some things that I couldn't bring myself to write down last year so that my children can see how we have been blessed by our Heavenly Father & His son Jesus. That they may also know that everything happens for a reason.

One of my favorite memories of last Christmas, Luke & I were trying to decided on a name for our little girl. I loved Paisley & just felt like that should be her name. Luke wanted to think about other names since we had time (or so we thought). But Christmas morning he hands me a baby book & where it says, "this book belongs to", he had my mom write Paisley. And this was my Christmas present.

We had a crazy fun few weeks. After Halloween we headed
to SLC for Caitlin's blessing. Then me and the kiddos headed
to Star Valley. We had alot of fun spending time with family.

We also got to go flying with grandpa Dave. I didn't get pics,

Emily has some on her blog. By the end of the ride both boys

Then back to SLC to Primary's for another swallow study &
visit to the U of U's NBICU. We were able to see some of our

so amazing. We are so grateful to have had such angels taking care
of our little girl!

Blake hade so much fun this year being Buzz Lightyear. We went

to a Trunk or Treat with some friends & if there was too long a line

at one car Blake would just move onto the next one!

Blake got to go to an Suu football game with Daddy. He had

so much fun & found himself a much older girlfriend.

Home Depot had a little carnival for Halloween, so I took Blake in

& he got his face painted & had alot of fun with the games.

In Loving Memory of Linda Grover

Here are some pictures taken through out this month.

We have had a busy month. Paisley had a ENT (Ear Nose Throat) visit at Primary's, where they did a swallow study, and found that her left vocal cord is still paralized and will most likely stay that way. They also found that she silently aspirates when she eats. Which means that her formula is going into her lungs and not her stomach. So we have to thicken her formula til its like pudding, and get her lungs checked every few weeks. We also went to Steph's wedding at Thanksgiving Point, she looked beautiful. Got to see alot of family.Then we had a dear friend return to Heavenly Father. She was more than a friend, she was a part of our family. She had been living with cancer for many years. She was a great person to talk to. I learned alot from her. A great poem that she loved was

Cali Vaca

We went to Cali over the weekend & had a great trip. Grammie Carrie flew down to take care of Paisley (we still have to be careful with her). So it was just Blakie with us.
We went to the Dodgers game Saturday & this was our view. We sat in the left field cheap seats. There were 3 homeruns, 1 got close to where we were.

It was sooo hot I think it got up to 105. We had some real characters seating next to us. Most of them were drunk which made for a lot of laughs. There was a Jack Black look a like who had us going with his lip singing talent.

Then off to the beach, were we spent most of our time. Luke did some body boarding, we found seashells, and made me a mermaid, I can't get the picture to load:(

A neat thing we found out about this date is that it's the date that the little angel who lost her life and helped save mine and Paisleys' was delivered into the arms of our Heavenly Father. How grateful we are to that little girl and her family.We are amazed every day how nothing happens by chance, there is purpose and reason in all things great and small!!!

Since we are stuck at home for awhile we are running out of things to do! Blake keeps saying he loves his girls, so when I ask who is girls are he says,"grandma Redda, grandma Carrie, grandma Delsa. grandma Reba, Becky, Beta, and Alice". I was being funny by drawing a momma tattoo on his arm and that wasn't good enough he wanted all "his girls" on there tooo.

4 years & 4months

Paisley turned 4 months old today. She was 6lbs 8oz on Friday, so she should weigh even more now.
She would have been 1 month old had we made it to full term. We love her so much. I can't seem to put her down. I'm making up for the 3 months that I wasn't able to hold her whenever I wanted.

The hospital gave Blake a book called,"No bigger than my teddy bear", to show how small the babies in the NICU and Pais were. Well now she is bigger than her teddy bear, we are going to take a picture of her with the same bear each month to see how she grows!!

Blake turned 4 years old this month, he is such a great little man, & the best big bother any girl could ask for. Here he is with aunt Beta & his best buddy during our hospital stay, Piggybear. That dog really helped out, Blake would talk to him, like he knew just how he felt.

Luke made this cake for Blake.(hey I rhymed and didn't even mean to!) Blake got better batter baseball for his birthday, he hits the ball pretty good.

Our little miracle girl weighs 6lbs even today. The home health nurse that's been coming and checking on Paisley left the scale here, and we just weighed her. Can you believe she started at 1lb 10oz & 13 inches and is now 6lbs & 18 1/2 inches! We are truly blessed!

Our First Week Home

Well, we have survived our first week home. Grammy Carrie was her for the whole week, having her here was such a help and I know that she loved being able to spend a lot of time with Paisley and Blake. She also made a lot of good food for us through the week. Thanks mom!! We love you!! Paisley has done very well this week, she seems to be happy to just be held all the time. She also has her days and nights confused, but what should we expect after having her be in the hospital for 3 months. Hopefully she will get switched over soon and we can all get some sleep. We just weighed her and she weighed in at 5 pounds 6 ounces, so she is gaining weight. Blake is more than excited to be home, he just can't get enough of his toys. We are just glad to all be home and back to a somewhat normal routine.

After 3 LONG months we have finally been able to bring our little Paisley home. We left the hospital today at about 1:30 pm and with two car loads of stuff and a beautiful little baby girl we headed to Cedar City. After several pit stops we arrived home at about 7:00 pm this evening. So far everything has gone well. Blake was more than excited to be home, he kept saying "I remember this!!!" when he saw a toy of his. My mom will be here for a week to help out with just about anything. Again we would like to thank you all for your love, prayers and support.

I just thought I would update everyone on how Paisley is doing. She has had a good week this week. She is back in her crib and back to wearing clothes as you can see by the picture. She has has some trouble going back to the bottle, but she is back up to the amount she was eating before the surgery, only it is through the tube rather than the bottle. Last time we checked she weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces so she is gaining weight. I believe that she has tripled her weight since she was born. Hopefully if she gets the feeding thing back down it should only be several more weeks until she and the rest of the family get to come home. Please pray that she will get this down because we really need to be together as a family. I realize that I sound like a broken record, but we are all more than ready to be together. Thank you all again for your prayers and support.

Paisley is doing much better over the last couple of days, they took her off the ventilator yesterday and she was able to eat again. YEAH!!! Now we are back on track and hopefully she will be able to come home soon. We are crossing our fingers. She is such a beautiful girl and it was so fun to see her open her eyes yesterday.

I just wanted to post an update on Paisley. This afternoon when Clover went into a doctors appointment she stopped by to see Paisley afterwards and they informed her that they were going to be doing the surgery at between about 3 and 4 pm. I was at Alice's with Blake and Clover called and informed me that she was on her way to pick me up. I arranged to have Jake and Melissa watch Blake and we headed to the hospital. We hurried up and waited and they ended up doing the surgery at about 5 0r 5:30. She is doing just fine now, the nurses said she did so well and that everything went just fine. It was so hard to see her all medicated and out of it. So now she will just have to be on the ventilator for a couple days, and she should be able to start back on her progress and hopefully come home soon enough. Thank you again for your prayers and we will continue to keep you updated.

Surgery :(

Our little girl has to have surgery:( We have kind of known that she will eventually have to have the surgery, but we hoped that it wouldn't have to happen for a while. From birth she has had a heart murmur which is caused by what is called a PDA (I can't remember what that stands for). A PDA is basically a small hole in one of the arteries. It is a fairly common thing for premature babies to have and the nurses and doctors all say that it is nothing to worry about, but as a parent you never want to see your little one have to go through something like this. We are still not sure exactly when they will be doing the surgery, but it will most likely be in the next couple of days (probably Friday). It is a very short procedure (15 minutes), and hopefully she will be back to eating by Sunday or Monday. She hasn't eaten since last Saturday, and yesterday when I went to see her she was going to town on her Binky, so I know she is hungry. Other than the surgery she is doing pretty good. She was wide awake the whole time I was there yesterday and I just got to hold her and we just looked into each others eyes the whole time. She is so precious and it makes Clover and I sad to think of her having to have the surgery, but it is necessary for her to progress so that she can come home with us, which is what we really want and need. Rough Weekend

Paisley had a rough weekend. On Thursday the nurses were getting us all excited with talk of her coming home in 1-2 weeks, because she was doing so well and accomplishing all of her goals. But overnight she had alot of residual (food that she hadn't digested) and so they ordered an x-ray for her stomach. After looking at that they thought that she might have an infection in her stomach. They ran several different tests and did several more x-rays. They also took her off of her feedings because of the infection and started her on antibiotics. All of these things were done for precautionary reasons just in case she did have an infection. All of the test came back negative and the x-rays all looked normal. But we are just waiting to hear from the radiologist for the final verdict, but they feel like she probably doesn't have an infection. It was rough on us because she was doing so good with her feeding and she was in an open crib and wearing clothes, but because of the IV she can't wear clothes so she was getting cold and that in turn forced them to put her back in the incubator. So we feel like we have taken a couple of steps back. We were able to give her another blessing. Our bishop and his wife were up in SLC and so we asked him come and help give her a blessing. She is such a cute little girl and it was fun to see her in clothes, she looks like a completely different baby. Hopefully she will bounce back and it won't be much longer till she can come home. Please pray that she can come home soon, we are all more than ready to be home together as a family. Thank you all again for all your love and support.

It's been a while since we have updated everyone on how Paisley is doing. So here it goes. She has been growing like a weed over the last several weeks and before we know it she will be home. I say that, but we wish she were home right now. We are ready to all be home and together as a family. She has been digesting just about every drop of milk that they give her and she has even breast and bottle fed alittle. She has been on room air for almost a week now and has done well with that. A couple of nights ago she weighed in at 3 lbs. 14 oz. 2 more oz. and she will be moved from an incubator to an open crib, so that is a big milestone. She just has to keep her tempurature good for more than a week and she will have jumped another hurdle in order for her to come home. Please continue to pray for her so that we can be together as a family again soon.

3 POUNDS!!!!!!

Our little Paisley has had a great week. We are so proud of her. As you can see from the title of the post, she has reached 3 pounds. In fact, she was 3 pounds 1 ounce last night. She has had very few A's and B's throughout the week, but the heart murmur is still present. She has tolerated her feedings almost perfectly, with only small amounts of residual, if any at all. The fact that she is doing so well with eating could indicate that the PDA (hole in the heart) could be getting better. The doctors haven't really mentioned surgery much lately.

The occupational therapist came this week and observed Paisley and saw that she was showing signs of being ready to breast feed, so they began to try that with her. Within only one day of trying she was sucking and getting milk. Everyone (occupational therapist, nurses, doctors) have said they have never seen a baby so small do so well so early. She really is such an inspiration to all of us. She must really want to go home. Of all the requirements that she has in order to go home she has exceeded expectations on all of them. She is pretty much on room air most of the time and we sometimes wonder why they even keep her on oxygen. She is obviously getting the feeding thing down so that requirement should be met soon. Its hard to get your hopes up on when she will get to come home, but it is impossible not to think about it.

All things considered our sweet little girl is doing so good. She always has a smile for her daddy, and it just melts my heart. Thank you all for your prayers and the encouraging comments.

This week has been a great week for our little Paisley. She has been tolerating her feeding and as a result has gained weight. Last night she weighed 2 lbs. 11 oz. so she has gained one pound in a month. On friday we celebrated her one month birthday by bringing cupcakes to the nurses and staff that take care of Paisley. The doctors are still wanting to hold off on the surgery to repare the hole in her heart, and we still hold on to a hope that it will heal on its own and no surgery will be required. I will be up here all week and I am looking forward to spending time with my family, including Clover's 28th birthday on wednesday. Man she is so much older than I am!!;)

This last week has been a rough week for our little Paisley. At the beginning of the week the doctors thought she may have had an infection so they immediately began giving her antibiotics and did some tests. They also had to take her off of her feedings until they found out for sure. Luckily the tests have all come back negative, but they continue the antibiotics for a full week just to be sure. She also had a low red blood cell count so they had to give her some blood. Clover said her color looked awful after giving her blood, but she looked much better after a couple of days. Towards the end of the week she was doing much better. The nurse told us that her heartbeat was louder, which could mean that the hole could be closing. That was news that gave us hope. Blake was able to see his baby sister on Saturday. The nurse took us to a secluded hallway and he was able to see her through a window that wasn't actually in the NB ICU. He was so excited, but wasn't satisfied, he wanted to go in and hold her like his mommy was doing. I was also able to hold her for the first time. That was fun. She is such a cute little bug. Although the week started out rough it ended really well. She now weighs 2 pounds 6 ounces. A friend of our who used to live in Cedar and now attends the U of U was able to help me give her a blessing which she desperately needed. Thank you again for all of your love, support and especially your prayers.

Clover called to check on Paisley last night at about 10:00 and the nurse informed us that she was 2 pounds!!! Yeah!!! She has been hovering at 1 pound 15 ounces for several days. We were so excited about that. She has been completely off oxygen for almost 2 full days and has had very few A's and B's. She is such a fighter.

Things are going pretty well here with Paisley. I have been home all week and drove up again to see my family this weekend. Clover wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I just went to see Paisley by my self last night. Clover felt really bad about it, but I think she just needed a break from the hospital. Paisley is doing really well. She looked so great and she even opened her eyes for me and gave me a couple of smiles. She was put on a new medication to help heal the hole that is in her heart that causes a murmer. They give her three doses of the medication and then do an echo on her heart to see if the medicine worked. If the medicine didn't do anything then they may have to think about surgery. Please pray for her that she can close the hole on her own. We have asked people to fast for her this weekend so if you can we would appreciate it. They also found some blood on her head, but it is soo little that they are not too worried about it. They call it a grade 1, and they rank them from 1-4, with 4 being the most serious. Other than that she is doing perfect. We really can't complain, we have been so blessed and have learned so much about the love of our Savior. He truly is watching over our little family. Thank you again for your prayers and support.

I just wanted to update everyone on how Paisley is doing. I had to work this last week and so I worked 4 -10 hour shifts and drove up to SLC on Friday morning. I was soo excited to see my family and to see how Paisley is doing. She is doing so well. Every nurse and doctor that we talk to has commented on how well she is doing. They also say that she is a doll. She still has a heart murmer but they are going to look at that again today. On Saturday Clover got to hold her for the first time. Clover was soo excited she couldn't stop smiling. Paisley actually did better laying on her mommas chest than she does in the incubator when it comes to her oxygen and heart rate. It's amazing what skin to skin contact can do. She has gained weight and she is now at 1 pound 13 ounces, and she is up to about 9 ML of milk every three hours. Less than a week ago she was not eatning anything. We want to again thank you all for your prayers. Continue to pray for her and we will keep you updated.

Clover and I would like to thank everyone for the countless prayers that were offered on our behalf. We have had a very long week and have a long several months ahead of us. We know that the prayers that we have had on our side have blessed our family so much and we ask that you continue to pray for our little Paisley. We have seen over the last several days that she is a fighter and that she will not let anything get in her way of growing and coming home to Clover, Blake and I.

We wanted to share our experience with you all so that you can really know the blessings that we have received from this experience. We owe so much to so many, but most of all we owe everything to our Heavenly Father. He has blessed us with a beautiful baby girl that although she will face some challenges she is so strong and we know that she will fight.

This whole experience really began several months ago when Clover went for a check up and the doctor told her that her blood pressure was high and that she needed to take things easy and try to lower he BP. She was as able to do so and things seemed to be normal. Then the week before Christmas, Clover got a bladder infection and was able to treat it early. She then traveled to Emery County and prepared for Christmas, where she most likely over did it and exhausted herself. Several days before Christmas as she was spending time at her grandma Reba's house she was talking to her cousin Becky whose sister-in-law was diagnosed with preeclampsia and ultimately lost her baby to the disease. It is a disease that not only places the baby in harm but equally puts the mother in harm. I won't go into much detail about the disease, but if anyone wants to learn about it all you have to do is google it and you will have all the info you need. Becky had begun to worry because she saw several symptoms of the disease in Clover and wanted to let her know of her concern. Ultimately Clover wondered why anyone would tell a pregnant woman a story of another woman losing her baby, but we knew she was only concerned for Clover. We checked Clover's BP Christmas and the day after Christmas and it never really went down. It actually spiked at 190/135 and that is when we decided to go into the hospital in Price to have them check her. At this point we still didn't know whether we were dealing with preeclampsia. They did a blood test and a urine test and they hooked her up to a monitor to keep and eye on her blood pressure and the baby's heart rate. After that we just waited. The Doctor finally came and announced that she indeed had preeclampsia and that it was at an advanced stage. And then he hit us with a ton of bricks, He said that what they were going to need to do was Life flight her up to the U of U hospital and that she may deliver the baby as soon as we arrived. When we had a second to ourselves the first thing Clover said to me was "we owe Becky so much." Becky's sister-in-law was with her when she found out about Clover, and she said the neatest thing to her. She told Becky that she felt like they lost their baby to save her life, but after hearing about Clovers experience, and Becky recognizing signs of preecplamsia, she felt like she not only saved her life but also was able to save Clover and Paisley's life as well.

Although it was a shock, we knew that we had caught it early and that our chances were very good. They then hooked Clover up to something called Magnesium Sulfate which helps to prevent seizures and also helps lower BP. It also makes you feel like crap but that means that it is working. We then proceeded to wait for the plane to leave from Salt Lake and fly to Price. Originally the plane was supposed to be there at 9:30 pm but it didn't end up showing up until around 4:00 am. We arrived in SLC at about 5:00 am after what Clover described as a calming plane ride. In fact she said that the plane ride was the most relaxing and restful time she had. She was comforted and well taken care of by a nurse who's name is Bart. Another neat experience involving Bart was that the day after Paisley was born, as we walked into the NBICU to see her, we saw a familiar face standing next to Paisley's incubator. Not only is Bart an Air med nurse he also works in the NBICU. Clover and I couldn't help but get a little emotional, and we were able to thank him again for the great care and comfort that he gave to Clover.

Once we arrived in at the U of U hospital, they were able to do an ultrasound and see just how many weeks along Paisley was. She measured at 24 weeks so they decided that as long as Clover was able to stay stable they would continue to give Clover steroid shots to help Paisley's lungs develop more rapidly, and monitor her BP and try to buy Paisley a little more time. Clover was able to stay stable for several more days and she tried her best to keep her BP down to give Paisley a better chance. Early in the morning on December 30th Clover's BP went back up so they put her back on the Mag as they call it and sort of let us know that she was most likely going to have to deliver very soon. They did some more blood work and when they came back the protein in her blood had doubled so they prepared her for surgery and our little Paisley Ann Dunn was born at 11:57 am on December 30th, 2008. She weighed 1 pound 10 ounces and measured 13 inches long. The doctor mentioned that she cried right away, which was a good sign.

She has had some good days and some bad days, but mostly good. Again we want to thank everyone for the love and support that you have shown our family over the last little while. Most of all we want to again thank you for your prayers. I think Paisley and Clover where on the prayer roll in every Temple in Utah and then some. Thanks again and we will post updates whenever possible. We ask that you continue to pray for Paisley and we know she will fight a little harder.

I don't know if you are tired of seeing ultrasound pics, and if so, too bad, because we like to show off our little QT. We got a gift certificate from our doctor for a 3D ultrasound so we decided to go and use that this weekend. It was in St. George so we decided to make a day of it and go to the Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm, which was also alot of fun. Blake's new thing is....yep, you guessed it Dinosaurs, which is fine with me. Anyways, back to the ultrasound, We found directions to the place and when we got there it was in this little ghetto place off Bluff St. (as ghetto as you can get in St. George, Utah). But the lady that did it was really nice and she did a good job. The only problem is that our little turd had both of her legs up in front of her face. Her toes were above her forehead and she stayed that way for the whole time we were there (45 minutes). We could tell the lady was frustrated because she wanted to get some good pics, but what do you do huh? There are some cute ones though.

Grammy Carrie Came And Visited

Grammy Carrie came and visited us for a couple of days this week and we had such a fun time just hanging out and re-learning how to make chicken noodle soup and cherry pie. She hitched a ride with my aunt Alice and grandma Delsa on there way to Tuachan to watch a couple of plays. Blake had soo much fun playing with "Grammy Carrie" that he had such a sad look on his face when she had to leave. We had to keep reminding him that he would see her again next weekend when her and Grandpa Dave stop by on their way to Vegas. It took him a couple of hours but he eventually cheered up. Thanks Grammy Carrie for coming and visiting us.

The whole weekend Blake was pretending that this Mountain Dew box was a house and his crayons where living in the house. The little handle there is the door and we had to knock on the door to come in.

Blake got a hold of the camera and took a couple (really about 30!) pictures. This one we call "Grandma Carrie on a Wall".
Isn't she precious? She is going to kill me when she sees that I have posted this forever on our blog for all the world to see. Clover has still been really sick and her blood pressure is high so keep her and the baby in your prayers. We are amazed at how many people think that we are going to have a girl. It is almost odd to see because we put a poll on the Erickson family website and the majority of people think that it is a girl. We can find out in the next 2-3 weeks so we will keep you posted.

We apologize for the lack of posting, but we have been quite busy over the last month. School started as you saw from the previous posts, and Blake and I have been busy doing homework and taking tests. We went to the Kay and Delsa Erickson family reunion over the Labor Day weekend. Blake had soo much fun playing with all of his cousins. Clover has been busy growing a baby as you can see from the post. She has not been feeling great lately, but we both have to remind ourselves that it will all be worth it in the end. We were soo excited to see our little baby and see little hands and feet. The baby was moving all over the place and we told he/she to enjoy the space while it was there because it was going to get cramped in a little while. Clover is about 14 weeks along so in about 6 more weeks we should be able to find out whether we are having a boy or girl.

Because we are poor college students with a gas guzzeling SUV we stayed in Cedar City for the 4th of July weekend. I had a long 3-day weekend from work so we were able to experience Cedar City's festvities for once. We went to the parade on friday morning and We are going to have to say that we were alittle disappointed. There was only one float and it was decent to say the least. The night before I joked to Clover that we should just sleep in and skip the parade because it was going to be lame. By the end of the parade Clover was calling it lame too. To show you just how lame it was let me share a picture of one of the floats/entries of the parade.

Is that a FORD FOCUS? Is this really the kind of car you put in a parade? Needless to say there were some good moments from the parade and Blake had a good time and that's all that matters right? Here are some more pics of the parade. We watched the fireworks show but forgot to take the camera so we can't share any pics of the show but it was a great ending to a fun day. Fun Week in Star Valley

We decided to take a much needed week off and head on up to Star Valley to visit the fam. We got to be the first to stay in Grandma and Grandpa's new house in Fairview. It is such a beautiful home. Russ does some nice work. If we ever build a house we would want him to do it. On our way up there it snowed and we just about turned around and drove back to Cedar City:) We had a great time spending time with Grammy Carrie, Em, Russ, Brad and Lauren. We also got to spent some time with Grandma Delsa and Grandpa Kay and did the Sunday night get together that we miss soo much. Jake, Melissa, and Jason came up Thursday night and spent the rest of the weekend. We played alot of Wii and Catch Phrase. We love our family and are soo grateful to be a part of such a great group of people. Thanks to Grammy Carrie for letting us crash her new house. We love you.

We had a scary/funny experience yesterday. I let Clover sleep in because she desperately needed it. I was just laying on the couch watching cartoons with Blake and I fell asleep. Sometime later Blake woke me up to hand me Clovers daily pill dispenser. He had a strange look on his face and I just freaked out. I checked his mouth and could tell that he had at least eaten a vitamin. I didn't know what should have been missing from the dispenser. So I ran into the bedroom and woke Clover up. She looked at her pills and came to the conclusion that he had only eaten a vitamin. We were still worried about Blake and soo we called poison control and they said that one vitamin should not cause any problems for someone his age, but said to call back if he started acting sick. Luckily he never acted like it affected him. I guess it really wasn't a funny experience, we normaly don't keep things like that within reach of Blake, but we goofed up this time and won't let it happen again. We did joke that Blake would have more than enough iron for the next couple of days or more.

We have been pretty horrible about keeping up our blog. We weren't sure if anyone looked at it, until we had some requests for an update. Clover, Blake and I have been pretty busy over the last couple of months. I have been finishing up my second year as an old college student. I am ready for a break (so ready) Clover has been busy potty training Blake, and Blake, well, he has mastered the art of potty (for the most part). We love not having to change stinky diapers all the time. We have plans to do alot of fun things this summer. Blake got a fishing pole for his birthday, so we have to go fishing and camping. In June we are going to take a week off and head up to Star Valley. We are very excited about that.

I have a long four day weekend for Christmas this year so we are going up to Emery County for the holidays. We are excited to have a break seeing as this last semester of school has been a rough one. I am rededicating myself to school and I think (think) I will finally make a decision on what I want to do when I grow up. I have just moved from nights to days at my job at The Home Depot so that should help with the school situation. I now work 2-11 pm M-F, so I will still have weekends off. Clover and Blake are staying busy with Christmas activities. Blake got so worn out that other day that he took a 3 hour nap, if only Clover had taken a nap with him. We hope that everyone has a great Christmas holiday and a great new year. We will try and post some new pictures on the blog. GO PACK!!!! Super Bowl XLII here we come.

It has been almost a month since we have posted anything new on our blog. I apologize:) We had a great Thanksgiving this year. I had to work Thanksgiving night so that we could have a 3 day weekend so Clover, Blake and I just sat around all day Thursday. We got to watch the Packers beat up on the Detroit Lions in their traditional Thanksgiving Day match up. We had steak and potatoes for Thanksgiving dinner and just enjoyed each others company. On Friday morning we were greeted with a snow storm. It seems like anytime we are traveling it snows. Later that morning we departed for Grandma and Grandpa Dunn's house in Star Valley. The trip was a little hairy up until about Provo then the weather was perfect the rest of the way. We got to spend 3 full days in Star Valley and where able to attend the blessing of Loren Flora Parsons, Emily and Russ's new baby girl. The visit was great other than the fact that Blake got croup. On our way home we met our neighbor Linda in Orem and gave her a ride home. We are excited for the Christmas season and hope that everyone can remember the real meaning of Christmas. Halloween

We had a great Halloween this year. Blake went trick or treating for the first this year and he loved it. He didn't actually say "trick or treat" but he loved knocking on the door because he knew it led to candy. We went to a couple of the car dealerships in town for their annual trunk or treat but we weren't too impressed. And then we went around our apartment complex for alittle trick or treating. On our way home Clover twisted her ankle while she was holding Blake's hand and they both went down. Clover scraped her pinky and Blake got a fat lip and some road rash. Other than that we had a fun time. I hope everyone had a great halloween this year and they got alot of good candy:)
